John and Lois Lamont Graduate Scholarship
The John and Lois Lamont Graduate Scholarship is for students enrolled in full-time graduate studies at a Canadian University during the 2010-2011 academic year ($2,600).

Eligibility
This scholarship is open to Canadian citizens or landed immigrants who are graduates of any recognized university, possess an Honours degree or its equivalent and intend to pursue a higher degree in the field of sexual and reproductive health. This could include disciplines such as biology, Canadian studies, education, history, law, medicine, political science, psychology, social work, sociology, and women's studies.
Procedure
No special application form is required. The applicant must submit a typed essay of between 500 and 700 words, outlining his or her education, background in sexual and reproductive health and women's issues, aspirations, and plans. Candidates must clearly state their support of the values and beliefs of the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health. Full details of the applicant's academic record should accompany the letter of application. Include your curriculum vitae, your most recent academic transcript, and a full list of publications.
The applicant's name, address, telephone number and email address should appear at the top of the application. To be included in the application package are two letters of reference, as well as the name, address, and telephone number of each of the candidate's two referees. Each letter must be individually sealed in an envelope, and signed on the seal by the appropriate referee.

2009-10 Winner: Elicia Loiselle
Elicia Loiselle is a Master of Arts candidate in the School of Child and Youth Care at the University of Victoria. As a pro-choice, feminist activist, her academic career is informed by the extensive work she has done over the past 8 years in the fields of sexual health, women’s rights, queer community development, and youth work. Her thesis research engaged girls from an alternative education program as co-researchers in a Participatory Action Research project that explored the girls’ schooling while simultaneously unpacking their experiences of sexualization and sexual agency. Elicia is currently co-authoring a chapter in a new Child and Youth Care volume that explores marginalized girls’ sexuality via the structural barriers they negotiate.
2008-09 Winner: Stefani Burosch
Stefani Burosch is pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at Wilfrid Laurier University. Her thesis study will explore new Canadian women’s experiences learning about sexual health in Canada using a community-based participatory action approach to research. Stefani is dedicated to promoting a society in which all individual’s can experience and express their sexuality in a manner that is consistent with their values and beliefs.
2007-08 Winner: Vanessa Dixon
Vanessa Dixon will begin a Masters of Science degree in Population and Public Health with a focus on women’s reproductive health in a global context at Simon Fraser University this fall. Vanessa hopes to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience in order to affect policy changes that serve the evolving health needs of the global population. Congratulations Vanessa!
2006-07 Winner: Erin Brennand
Erin Brennand is enrolled in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Post-Graduate Residency Training Program at the University of Calgary. Erin is a strong advocate for sexual and reproductive rights and started the first Medical Students for Choice group at the University of Alberta. Erin’s goal is to leave a lasting impression on women’s health long after her career is over.
