Sexual Health Education Position Statement
The Canadian Federation for Sexual Health (CFSH) strongly affirms the fundamental human rights of all Canadians to the full range of information that supports their sexual health. In support of this fundamental human right, it is essential that all provincial and territorial governments ensure that all children in Canada, regardless of where they live, receive broadly-based, up-to-date sexual health education that is empirically based and taught in a culturally sensitive manner by trained teachers. It is also of fundamental importance that all Canadians have access to broadly-based, up-to-date, and effective sexual health information through government and community sources throughout their lives. CFSH also affirms the importance of universities, professional programs, schools boards, and governments, ensuring that teachers and other professionals receive high quality training in providing sexual health education.
