Sexual and Reproductive Health Counselling Guidelines (2004)

français»

CFSH has developed Canada's first Sexual and Reproductive Health Counselling Guidelines. Based on the experience of key informants working in the field, the guidelines can be used as a tool to improve support skills, train staff or provide additional information for clients in a clinical, community or educational setting. If you are a public health nurse, doctor, crisis counsellor, therapist, or community educator, this valuable resource was created with you in mind.

The Counselling Guidelines provides general information, guidelines, resources and client fact sheets on sexual and reproductive health within a Canadian context. There are five sections including:
  1. Sexuality
  2. Preventing STI/HIV and Pregnancy
  3. Pre and Post Testing for STIs and HIV
  4. Pregnancy Options
  5. Abuse and Violence

Each chapter contains three parts:

Guiding principles and objectives: a quick reference to establish if the section will cover the reader's area of interest.

Background Information: provides a context for the counselling guidelines on the topics explored.

Counselling Guidelines: practical techniques and tips for integrating STI/HIV prevention into sexual and reproductive health counselling and/or services.
