Facebook Highlights National Sex Day

A recent Internet campaign to create a National Sex Day has received publicity from The Canadian Press. A Vancouver student launched a Facebook event to promote a day dedicated to sex and the event has already attracted over 130,000 respondents. CFSH encourages activities that promote safer and healthy sexuality, in fact, CFSH named February 12 as the official National Sexual and Reproductive Health Day in 2002.

SRH Day has been celebrated across the country on and around February 12 for 8 years. It’s a unique and fun awareness day that encourages individuals, service providers and communities to:

• talk, listen and learn about all things related to sexuality
• take action to take care of their own sexual and reproductive health
• organize/participate in fun, community-based events and,
• anything else that captures the sex-positive spirit of SRH Day!

On February 12, 2009, Canadians will celebrate the 8th annual SRH Awareness Day in their home communities through various events. This day is a time to reflect and consider the importance of improving and maintaining sexual and reproductive health in a personal way.
